"The Future of Candy is Rooted in the Past"

McKeesport Candy Co., one of the oldest wholesale candy companies in the United States, has a long history of providing customers with the latest in candy innovations:

As one of the first candy wholesalers to offer bulk candy, we have proudly represented Brach's Candy since 1929. We were one of the first to offer repackaged bulk candy under our own label, called “Todd's”.

In September 2006, the name was changed to “Candyfavorites” and although the product line remains the same, we expanded our focus on retro offerings. This line of bag candy is available throughout Western Pennsylvania.

Always looking for ways to distinguish ourselves, we continue to offer private label bagging for corporations, department stores, supermarkets or anyone who desires a custom approach.

In the 1980's a trend emerged in which wholesalers diversified into non-confectionary products, such as grocery items. Instead of following the trend, we decided to focus on expanding our candy selection. Although this was a risky decision, we wanted to stay true to our original mission.

In 1985, we established a Fundraising & Concession Candy Division, which distributes products from companies such as Hershey, M&M Mars, Nestle, Sunmark and more. We were one of the first fundraising companies to offer a liberal return policy as well as online customer support. Today, we are one of the largest fundraising candy distributors and our customer service remains unsurpassed.

We constantly look for ways to keep product offerings current and thus new brands, categories and products are added daily. We feature a full selection of sugarless candy from manufacturers such as GoLightly, EDA, Hershey's, and Sorbee as well as one of the largest online selections of novelty candy from companies such as Amurol, Candyrific and Impact Confections.

Unlike other online candy stores, we opened our first "brick and mortar" retail store in 1969 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania called the The Candy Tree”. It was one of the first stores to offer a selection of pick and mix” bulk candy from companies such as Brach's, Goetze's, Hershey, Necco, Tootsie Roll and more. This innovative format became the standard by which today's candy stores are measured. This store was featured in George Romero’s classic horror film, Dawn of the Dead prior to closing in 1986.

Our next store and was called “Candy Go Round”, purchased in 1973, from now defunct Candy Rama which was a Pittsburgh institution. This store featured varieties of candy including bulk, gift items and Pittsburgh's first selection of novelty candy. After a long run, the store closed when the building was slated to be demolished. It is still considered, by those who remember, to be one of Pittsburgh’s finest candy stores.

In 1982, we opened two retail stores, both called “Trifles”. The stores were among the first candy stores in Pittsburgh to offer bulk Jelly Belly Jelly Beans as well as M&M Mars M&M’s ® in individual colors. The stores operated for over ten (10) years.

After a long history of operating brick and mortar” retail stores, we realized the wave of the future was online commerce. In 1998, we launched our first website, “McKandy.com”, which was one of the first websites offering candy for online purchase.

Although the site is still in operation, effective January 2005, it is under new management and no longer represents McKeesport Candy Co.

Always wanting to push boundaries for service and reliability, we launched CandyFavorites.com”, which has grown to become the internet's largest candy website offering over 2800 varieties of sweets. Our site has successfully set industry standards in terms of customer service, available information and ease of use and is the official website representing one of America’s oldest candy wholesalers.

In 2006, we launched www.candyblog.org , one of the internet’s first open forums devoted exclusively to the confectionary industry, which continues to provide informative discussion and relevant information. The blog is focused towards the consumer and we encourage users to visit and share their thoughts.

Based upon 75 years of experience (and counting) in the candy business, we believe that “The Future of Candy is Rooted in the Past...”
